A preview of our new addition to the family

On Monday, we got to see a video and 3D pictures of our soon to be new addition to the family. Before the scheduled appointment, our little man decided to take a nap. I was worried at first that he would be sleeping but he woke up just in time to say hello. He kept grabbing the umbilical cord and playing with it. Several times we caught him grabbing his foot and trying to suck on it. He opened his eyes and grinned for us. It was so amazing. We were not able to get very many good shots since he kept moving the umbilical cord in front of his face and since he kept moving so much that it was difficult for the technician to focus. However, we enjoyed seeing the little guy. Kayla was able to look on the big screen TV and see her baby brother. That was neat. Several times she pointed and said "Baby!" Barbara, Jon's mother, came with us. She really enjoyed seeing her future grandchild. I am glad she was able to share this experience with us.

I cant believe in less then 10 weeks, a new addition to our family will be here. I don't know if I am more excited or scared. A two year old and a new born...what was I thinking. I know that it will be wonderful and I am looking forward to all the adventures we have ahead of us.

Kayla's favorite past times...

Last week, we finally purchased a tree swing for Kayla. She absolutely loves it. I have caught her several times during the past week sneaking out the doggy door so that she can sit in her swing. If she is not in her swing, she can then be found with her bubble machine. Yes, blowing bubbles and swinging are the two things that occupy our time regardless if it is rain or shine. Yesterday, it rained ALL day. Kayla tried to run out to her swing a couple times. She made it half way once before I called her back in drenching wet. Instead, we sat on the front porch for a little over an hour (and 4 bottles of bubbles) blowing bubbles. This morning as Kayla was stirring, I over heard her cry out as she was half awake, "Buubbless." Too cute. Hopefully , I can get some pictures this weekend of her with her bubble maker.

Let me help Daddy!

I'm ready. Swing me high!

Weekend at Rockport

March 1st was Uncle Bill's birthday. Jon, Kayla, Uncle Jerod and I packed up the car late Thursday night and drove down to Rockport to visit. Kayla did really good in the car. We did not leave until 8:45p.m. Uncle Jerod and Jon got to catch up during the 3 hour drive while the two girls snoozed in the back. The weekend was filled with lots of chasing Kayla around and some relaxation. Kayla's two pass times while at Uncle Bill's was driving the golf cart and swinging. By the end of the weekend, Kayla learned how to turn the key to the golf cart, put it in forward and press the gas. That was the end of that. Saturday while Jon and Kathy (Jon's cousin) played a game of tennis, Opa, Uncle Jerod, Kayla and myself went down to the Rockport beach. We had a great time. Kayla loved the water and enjoyed making a mess.

Day at the zoo...

Last Thursday, Jon and I took Kayla to the San Antonio zoo. Kayla had so much fun. She wanted to see every animal and wanted to climb into each of the exhibits in order to get closer to the animals. At each of the exhibits, Kayla would imitate the animals (as loud as she could).
Several of the exhibits required us dragging her away. The monkeys and rhinos were definitely her favorite. The snakes also intrigued Kayla (and her Daddy). After three hours of walking around, we were all ready to go. Once we got into into the car, Kayla was out before we even drove out of the parking lot. I really thought she would be out for at least on hour. No, as soon as we stopped to get some ice cream she was up and licking her lips (that is my little girl).

Mommy, I can imitate an elephant!

Look at me!

Oh! Monkeys!

Wow!

I am a big girl now...

Kayla is becoming more and more independant. I caught her this weekend trying to dress herself. Actually, after several tries, she suceeded and got her pants and shirt on by herself. WOW!!! I was amazed and a little sad.

Can you believe that our little giftl is 20 months today. Were has the time gone. I was looking through her pictures and I am amazed at how much she has changed from the first day I saw her.

*Kayla is talking more and more.

*She is becoming more and more stubborn with each passing day. She wants to do eveything herself and if you try and help she gets upset.

*She loves to cuddle and give hugs. Every morning the two of us lay on the couch cuddled in our blanket and watch The Wiggles while we drink our "pink" milk.

*Kayla loves to get dirty. She enjoys digging in the dirt and throwing sand in her hair, on to everyone else and onto the carpet in the house.

*Her favorite book is Goodnight Moon. I think she has it memorized (I know I do).
