Christmas at the Ranch

On Thursday, December 27, 2007, we went to my parents for our Christmas celebration. I was not sure if we were going to make it after the first night. I think between Jon, Kayla and myself, we got a total of 6 hours of sleep. It was a horrible night. However, once we got a good nap the next day all was well. Kayla received some really nice gifts and enjoyed playing with Zoe and Addison. Kayla loved crawling up on the tractor and pretending to drive it. On Friday afternoon, we went out to feed the cows and she was all ready to help feed them and pet them. On Saturday morning, Jon shot a deer. Kayla was not quite sure about the deer. She just stood there with a perplexed look. We left the ranch on Saturday afternoon, just in time for Jon to make it to the football game in San Antonion and for Kayla and I to get home to watch the Aggie football game. However, Kayla and I did not make it to the end. We were both passed out by 9pm. Thanks Mary and Dad for a wonderful weekend...

Christmas Day...

Our Christmas Day was filled with lots of smiles and laughter. Once Kayla woke up, she didn't want to have a part of anything except the stack of new toys in front of the television. She enjoyed her presents most of all the homemade waffles that Daddy made. Later that day, we ventured to Hico.

Here, we spent time with Jon's family. Kayla had a wonderful time. When it was present time, Kayla was all ready to hand out the presents (actually they were all given to her Uncle Josh). Kayla didn't want to open her presents. No...she wanted to help everyone else open their presents. Jonah and Kayla were so cute together. Once the day was over, Kayla passed out and slept all night without a peep.>

Round and Round I Go...

It was time for bed and Kayla tried everything to stay up. It never fails, about 10-15 minutes before it is time to go night-night, Kayla finds some extra energy to either run as fast as she can around the house, play keep away with Aspen, or twirl until she can't twirl anymore.

Early Christmas...

Last weekend, one of our Christmas presents for Kayla was delivered. Jon could not wait until Christmas, so...up it went. Kayla had a great time climbing up the slide and sliding down. Kayla was not sure about jumping at first. But once, Mommy an Bo showed her it was fun, there was no stopping her.

At 18 months old Kayla....

Loves to dance (linebacker shuffle)!

Loves to jump!

Climbs, climbs, and climbs some more.

Enjoys going on lawn mower rides with Daddy.

Knows that there is a baby in Mommy's belly.

Favorite food is broccoli, steak and mac and cheese.
It is amazing how much she has grown in just the past month. She is becoming such a wonderful helper around the house. I say it is wonderful but it can be annoying at the same time. She wants to unload and even start the dish washer all the time (even when the dishes are dirty). Several times I have checked the one cabinet that she can get into to and have found that our little girl decided to unload some of the dishes from the dishwasher. Sweeping the kitchen floor...well that waits until nap or bed time, otherwise, I have a little helper wanting to sweep by herself.

Kayla's sleeping habits are definitely from her daddy (stay up late and sleep in). At 9:30p.m, it is a struggle to get Kayla to bed. If I would let her, she would stay up all night. In the morning, 9:30 is her normal wake up time. Some days, she sleeps until 10am. Wow, this is nice for my morning routine.

Where does time go....

Our little girl is 17 months today. WOW!!! I can not believe how time has past us by. It feels like just yesterday Jon and I were bringing her home from the hospital. It has been so amazing watching her develop. Her personality seems to come out more and more each day. She loves helping me out with the house work. She gets so excited when it is time to vacuum. I tell her to pick up her toys so we can vacuum. She squeals with delight and then begins to attempt picking up her toys. At night, she will stand next to the dogs while they eat their supper waiting in suspense for them to finish. Once they have cleaned their plates, she will pick up the plates (paper plates) and throw them away. Afterwards, she runs into the living room clapping her hands. Of course every now and then she tries to throw away non-trash items (like her tennis shoes). Laundry. Well you can see by the picture on how she likes to help. Kayla also has a very mischievous personality. Today, I caught her army crawling very slowly towards the dogie door. Normally she bolts to the door and tries to get out before I can say "no!" I guess she thought I would not see her. Climbing. Well we definitely have a little monkey on our hands. She has learned how to crawl up the pantry shelves. I turned around the other day and there she was standing on the bottom shelve and pulling items of the shelves above her. I about freaked out. The funniest thing (I probably should not laugh) is when I give Kayla my stern look. Instead of boughing down, Kayla decides to give me the look back. I try to not laugh but it is hard.

No Longer Just Mommy's.

Well, it is official. Kayla loves Sonic's cherry limeade. I have found that cherry limeades help with my nausea. So everyday, I venture to Sonic for a cherry limeade. I use to order a medium. However, I only get to drink half of it, since my little vulture insist on having her half. So, now we order a Route 44.

It is so cute, every time she takes the first drink, she makes the same face. You would think that she does not like the taste. Tha is not the case...she keeps drinking and drinking.

Happy Halloween!!!

Kayla's had an uneventful Halloween night since our day was packed with a Halloween party at the library and then a small get together with some of our little friends afterwards. So, to say the least, Kayla was exhausted. Instead of trick or treating, we opted for Luby's and some good ol' macaroni and cheese.

Kayla looked adorable in her clown outfit. She actually did good with keeping the hat on and not pulling the pom-poms off of her shoes.

It is amazing how much she has changed from last year. Last Halloween, Kayla was dressed up as a little pink poodle and wasn't crawling and definitely was not going down slides like she is now. Amazing how fast our little ones grow up.

Great news for our family.

Great news from the House of Schneider....Kayla is going to be a big sister. I saw the heart beat on Friday and everything looked good. My biggest fear was that I would see two heart beats. Thankfully, there was only one. I don't think I could handle twins along with a two year old. I am not sure how I am going to handle a newborn and a two year old.

Well, the due date is June 9th (however the actual deliver date will probably be the 3rd or 4th). So, I don't know what we are going to do about Kayla's 2nd birthday. I will figure that out as the date get closer. I have a little over 7 months to figure that out.

I have been asked by several people if I prefer a boy or a girl. I honestly don't care. Another girl would be nice so that Kayla has a playmate. However, a boy would be a great addition as well. My only thing that I ask is that this baby is healthy.

Oh, I should not have drank that much milk...

Can you believe our little girl is 16 months...

I can't believe how time has flown by. Kayla is growing so fast and amazes me everyday. She keeps me busy and is constantly asking, "Whats that?" And climbing...we definitely have a little monkey on our hands. She loves to climb up on the bed. Once on the bed, she will repeat the word jump as she tries to get both feet of the ground. Sometimes she accomplishes the task but most of the time it is only one foot off the ground at a time. Kayla is definitely a head strong child. When she wants something, she lets you know. Not necessarily by throwing a temper tantrum. Instead, she persistently nags. Example: at night when we are winding down, Kayla will run to the stairs and yell "BaTH." She will then run into the living room to make sure she was heard. She will keep this up until you follow her upstairs to give her a bath.

Favorite words to say:
Bath - and she over pronounces the "th". So, cute.
Outside - with a big grin on her face
Dog
Door
Milk
Jump
Draw

Favorite food:
Cheese sticks and loves feeding them to Aspen. Well, actually likes playing keep away and then finally gives in throwing the cheese stick towards Aspen.
