9 months old...21 lbs 8oz, 27 3/4 inches long.
Wow,wow, wow as wubzee would say (for those who are unfamiliar with Wubzee, he is a cartoon character that Kayla enjoys watching). Christian is such a happy little boy. He wants to play all the time. He is doing so many things....
* Peek-a-boo is one of his favorite games.
* He also loves attacking Kayla or playing chase with her. He laughs and laughs as the two of them play. Sometimes, he starts laughing so hard that he has to lay his head down, take a few minutes and catch his breath. It is so cute to see.
* Christian has two teeth coming in. So, our nights have been a little rough but we are getting through it.
* Christian has started walking behind and pushing ride on toys and the laundry basket to get around. Every now and then, he will try and let go of the couch or what ever he is holding on to (2 seconds is his max in standing and then down he goes). Soon, he will be up and running.
* Christian loves to take a bath. He is just like his sister and splashes water everywhere.
* Christian gets furious when you try to hold him down to change his diaper. I have tried singing to him, giving him something to play with, everything. I just have to hold him down and work as fast as I can to get him changed.
* Christian hates when something is taken away from him.
* Christian has started recognizing not only Daddy, Mommy and Sissy, but Aspen, Bo and other family and friends. He greats people with a big smile.
*Christian loves the tv remote.
* Christian loves to dance to any type of music. He will get up on his hands and knees and rock back and forth to the beat of the music. Too cute!

What a beautiful day...
Today was a great day to fly our new kites. See how I said KITES not KITE. Yes, I made sure to buy several kites at the store. Kayla has a niche for damaging every kite that we try to fly. Last time we went out to fly a kite (several months ago) we ended up going through four kites. Today, we only went through one. Whoop!! After flying the kite, we painted the sidewalk and enjoyed the beautiful day.

Tradition continues...
Some of my fondest memories growing up is the summers and spring breaks with my grandmother. We would spends hours together sewing outfits for me and my dolls. During those weeks, I would help cut out patterns, sew buttons on outfits and clean up afterwards. As I got older, I was eventually helping with the actual sewing portion. I leaned so much during those visits. I am not nearly as talented as my grandmother but I guess I have to start somewhere. So for Valentines this year I decided to make Christian and Kayla matching outfits. I wanted to make Kayla a dress but due to time constraints I opted for the fastest solution. I confess I bought simple white shirts, but I did applique (with Kayla's help) patterns with Valentine fabric on their shirts. (Kayla had hearts on her shirt and Christian a tie) Kayla had so much fun helping me and the two of them looked so cute together. Seeing how much Kayla enjoyed helping and watching me, I have decided to try and make both her and one of her dolls matching outfits just like my grandmother used to do for me. (I will be sure and post the outcome).
I just have to say, "Thank you Memaw for teaching me something so valuable and wonderful!" I hope that one day Kayla is sewing for her child and that the tradition continues.

Open for business...
Well after several weeks of long hours and hard work, Jon's restaurant has opened. Yesterday was the first official day to open the doors to the public. Jon has been working some crazy hours trying to get his staff trained and all the ins and outs done before the big day. Normally, he leaves around 8:30am and returns back home around midnight (sometime even later). We miss him but know that soon this crazy schedule will come to an end (until the next restaurant opens). Congratulations Jon!!!

The craziness (part 3)
So the rashes disappeared. However, only in time to fight the next battle. Last week was the battle of the flu. Christian came down with a small grade fever Sunday the 1st. Tuesday and Wednesday Jonah came to visit us while Uncle Josh had a meeting to attend at Texas State. We had a really good time drawing and playing. However, Wednesday night once our guest left, both Christian and I were attacked by a high fever. Both Christian and I were in bed until Friday morning. I started feeling a lot better by Friday morning and Christian started making a recovery by Friday evening. Thank goodness both Kayla and Jon did not catch our bug. Well, actually, Kayla caught a little cold but none of the high fever and aching body. I am so glad all that is over with. I think we are back to our daily routine. So far four days of no illnesses or any other crazy life events. We will keep are fingers crossed.

The craziness (part 2)
So after fighting the bad rash with Kayla, I thought all would go back to normal and our daily routines would take place again. The rash only lasted 4-5 days, but it seemed like an eternity. Soon after Kayla got rid of her rash, I broke out. I was miserable. All I could think of was how I kept pestering Kayla about scratching, "Stop Kayla!" "Your making it worse Kayla!" Poor Kayla, I had no idea that she was in that much agony. She was a better trooper then me. She never complained or cried at how bad it itched and burned. Myself, I complained like a two year old. It was miserable. Thank goodness mine only lasted two days and was not nearly as bad as Kayla's. I have to say she is a lot stronger and pain tolerant then her mommy. I still dont know what caused the rash. I thought maybe the new drier sheets that I started using or a food allergy. However, since we both broke out,I am thinking maybe a virus. We will never know.
this is a good day....the rash had already started to subside.

The craziness (part 1)
It all seemed to start approximately three weeks ago. The kids and I went to McKinney, TX to help take care of Kayla's cousin (Jonah) for a couple of days. We arrived on Tuesday to pick Jonah up from daycare. Jonah and Kayla were so excited to see one another. The two stayed up until nearly midnight playing and laughing. The next day we ALL took a trip to the hospital to see Aunt Monda (Jonah's mother). We had a really good time visiting and watching the kids run around acting crazy. After the hospital visit, I promised the little ones ice cream and the park. Well an hour later and after breaking up several two year old temper tantrums, I knew it was time to head back to the house. So for you might seem all is well. Everything is going great. Well, about an hour after getting back to the house, Kayla broke out in whelps from head to toe. Nothing seemed to help. Pour thing was miserable all night. The next morning after dropping Jonah off at daycare, I took Kayla to the emergency care clinic. They gave her a some medicine and a steroid prescription. The steroid prescription seemed to help the rash and the swelling for about a 12 hour span and the next 12 hours until the next dosage was torture. Friday night was the worse. We headed home Friday and when we arrived home, poor Kayla was bleeding in spots that she had scratched so much. I felt horrible. What could be causing the rash? Well thankfully Friday night was the worse of the rash. Slowly, it got better and by Monday morning it was gone. Overall, the week with Jonah was great. Kayla and Christian had a good time seeing Jonah, Uncle Josh, Aunt Monda and Riley. I enjoy watching the two cousins play together (and soon Christian will be in the mix and then Meredith). It reminds me of the fun times I had growing up with my cousin.
